Weight Loss
Recent studies have confirmed what we already knew - diets do not work. They lead to feelings of deprivation and an unhealthy obsession with food. The thing that we focus on grows. The diet tends to keep us focused on the foods we cannot have and on our overweight body. This leads to a feeling of deprivation and encourages binge eating. It also encourages people to get discouraged and to feel really bad about themselves and their body and eventually to give up and go back to the unhealthy eating habits they began with.
Whatever we imagine, we create. In hypnosis we focus on and visualise the slim attractive body that we desire and the unconscious mind creates the outcome. This programme is about finding healthy eating habits that suit the individual that can be easily maintained. There are no forbidden foods. It is about balance and finding what is right for you as an individual. It focuses on movement rather than exercise that is enjoyable and can be easily incorporated into your life.
For many people, unhealthy eating is a habit that can easily be changed through hypnosis. I focus on helping clients to feel better about themselves, learning to relax and feeling more positive about life. There are often emotional causes of weight problems, such as low self esteem. There can be repressed anger and unhappiness and food can become a distraction from this. Sometimes we unconsciously choose to hold onto weight to avoid dealing with issues in our life, e.g. relationship problems, career problems. In these situations, analysis is required to find the deeper cause of the weight problem. Once this is found and resolved, and issues such as stress or depression are dealt with, weight loss generally happens fairly easily. EFT is a powerful tool that can be used to fight cravings.
People do not realise how powerful hypnosis is. When I was first setting up the weight loss programme, I spent a lot of time thinking about creating the ideal weight, and reading about it. I focused on healthy eating and different ways to exercise. I also made a number of Hypnotic CDs. I then found that I lost weight myself without even trying or desiring it. So, you can imagine how powerful it is when you truly want it.

The "stop-smoking" programme involves a 2-hour session of suggestion therapy. It includes a free hypnotic CD to re-enforce the programme. The programme combines traditional hypnosis with the latest NLP techniques and re-programmes the mind so that it is easy to permanently let go of the smoking habit. Many people experience no further cravings or desires. A simple EFT technique can be taught to help eliminate any residual cravings. Many people stop smoking by will power and years later they are still struggling with the cravings. Panic Attacks
Panic attacks are a very common complaint and a lot of clients come to me with this problem.
What happens is that a stimulus triggers off a powerful emotion in the person. They are concerned that if they express this feeling they might lose control. So they fight it and resist it. The panic is a result of a conflict between an emotion and the part of you that tries to resist it. (If you stop fighting it, it will go). The Panic/Anxiety Attack is a build up of fear that has been repressed. It usually relates to a trauma from the past that hasn't been resolved. It involves feeling the fight or flight reaction at an intense level in an inappropriate situation. The physical symptoms you experience are due to the build up of adrenalin in the body and the other physical changes that happen in the body, when fight or flight is happening. None of these symptoms are dangerous, they are just uncomfortable.
I teach the client techniques to deal with panic and also teach them to deeply relax. We also work on the fears or negative beliefs that are causing this feeling and using hypnosis we replace them with thoughts and beliefs that are calming and uplifting. Sometimes we need to go back to the past to resolve the problem fully.
Fears and Phobias
A phobia is an extreme fear reaction in an inappropriate
situation. Every time the person is in contact with the feared
object, they feel a lot of fear and physical symptoms. They
usually then avoid the phobic object and live in anticipation
of their next encounter.
There is usually a sensitising event, where the client had a negative experience of the feared object and an earlier traumatic event which caused the client to feel fear and repress it. Both of these memories can be resolved and changed in a very positive way through hypnosis. The client is taught to relax and gradually taught to relax in the phobic situation. The phobia is fully resolved using hypnosis.
Stress
Stress is a feature of our modern world. Family, career, study, illness, financial difficulties, relationship problems, can all increase the level of stress in a person's life.
Unresolved issues from the past, traumas that are still locked in the unconscious mind add to this stress. Sometimes we are not truly being ourselves. We try to please other people and stay in relationships that aren't working or in jobs that we hate, or do things to fit in with everybody else. When we are not expressing our true self and we repress our real feelings, this causes stress.
Taking time out in the therapeutic process can be very helpful, to help you get to know and understand yourself better and get to know what it is you really want. Then we can discover what is getting in the way of you achieving what you want. There may be negative unrealistic beliefs. With hypnosis, we can help you get to understand yourself better, feel better about yourself and let go negative thoughts and replace them with calmer, more balanced, more positive thoughts. You will be taught techniques to help you reduce stress, and also relaxation techniques. hypnosis is very effective in stress reduction and for achieving a more calm, balanced and positive approach to life.
