Tapas Acupressure Technique
Tapas Acupressure Technique is a modern, energy healing technique, involving psychology and acupressure. It is a powerful way to resolve trauma and bring about feelings of balance and calm on a physical and emotional level. It was developed by Tapas Fleming, an American therapist.
When we experience a trauma, i.e. anything that brings up powerful negative emotions for us, there is a blockage in our energy flow and we become "stuck" emotionally in that place. If a teacher at school humiliated us in front of the class when we were five years old, at some level we are still feeling those feelings of the five year old whenever we are in a situation where we have to get up in front of a group of people. So any time we are in a situation that reminds us of the original trauma, we relive it and all the same feelings come back up again. On a conscious level we are not aware of this. We may not even consciously remember the trauma. We are just aware that we feel fearful, self conscious, shaky, sweaty, hot and cold, whatever the original physical symptoms were. This will continue till the trauma is resolved and is physically and emotionally exhausting.
There are two therapies that I use to resolve trauma (and bear in mind that a huge amount of our problems are a result of a trauma from our past such as fears, phobias, allergies, weight gain, shyness, obsessions, etc.):
- Analysis in hypnosis (this is covered under hypnosis and is extremely effective)
- Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT)
TAT involves placing the fingers lightly on acupressure points at the front and back of the head which correspond to the brains vision centres. We then create a flow of energy from one hand to the other. That flow of energy is natural in all of us. Our life-force flows from our fingertips and our palms. This flow of powerful life energy passes through all the control centres of the brain. One hand rests at the back of the head. This is the part of the brain that stores memories. The other hand rests at a point on the forehead, which is the part of the brain that imagines or visualises the future. TAT enables a flow of energy from these two energy centres that allow us to change the way past memories are stored in the mind and to create a positive future. In the TAT pose the client puts their attention on eight steps or statements which are designed to release the trauma, bring about healing and resolve the symptom the client came with.
Personally, I never cease to be amazed at how powerful and effective this technique can be and I have witnessed huge transformations in people's lives as a result of using it.
Sometimes people are tormented by painful memories from their past and TAT can help them let go and put them finally to rest. I have successfully used this technique to help people who experienced abuse, bereavement, loss of a special relationship, emotional abuse from a partner or parent, difficult childhood memories, now resulting in shyness or lack of confidence, and many other things.
